Most who know my writing could correctly say, "It's where grammar comes to die." For whatever reason, I don't have the ability to catch mixed verb tenses, poor comma usage, and even typos. I was taught better than that as a youth of course, but diagramming sentences never worked its magic on me. Serendipitously -I do possess a decent command of vocabulary words- I've had colleagues willing to review my work with one eye on trying to enjoy it, and the other on identifying my writing gaffes. So, I'm celebrating a little bit this moment as I have handed off the final third of my book for editing. As far as this butcher of all things related to grammar is concerned, I've got one foot firmly planted outside the grave. Huzzah! |
